Itinerary
Our journey starts with a thrilling flight from the vibrant city of Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. This 50-minute aerial adventure provides a visual feast, ranging from verdant hill landscapes to the fertile plains of Terai. Upon touchdown in Nepalgunj, a city situated in the southwestern part of Nepal, our experienced team will warmly welcome you and accompany you to the hotel. This marks the beginning of a fascinating expedition into the remote and pristine Limi Valley.

Rising early for another day of adventure, we board an early morning flight to Simikot, a small town nestled in the Humla district. Simikot serves as a significant gateway to Western Tibet and the revered Kailash Mansarovar. This 50-minute flight promises awe-inspiring panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, setting the tone for the extraordinary journey ahead. Upon landing in Simikot, at an altitude of 2910 meters. Now we settle into our accommodation which is surrounded by the Himalayan ambiance.

The trekking adventure begins with a short climb that lasts about an hour, taking us to a small pass at 9,800 feet (3000 meters). After traversing the pass, the trail transforms into a steep descent leading us to Dharapani. As we meander through this Himalayan terrain, we find ourselves high above the Karnali River, passing through dense pine forests and encountering settlements of various tribes. The day concludes in Dharapani, a settlement perched along the Karnali River.

Begin a journey through nature's wonders, we leave Dharapani behind, navigating narrow gorges and rocky trails. The trail follows the Karnali River, with occasional ascents and descents, offering glimpses of local life and verdant landscapes. After a 3-4 hour walk, we arrive at the Buddhist village of Kermi, adorned with two significant monasteries, Laikyo Gompa and Lhundrup Choeling Gompa, each with a rich history.

The day unfolds with a wholesome breakfast, initiating our journey from Kermi. The trail ascends slightly, leading us past barley and buckwheat fields. After approximately 2 hours of continuous walking, we cross a small pass and begin a steep descent. A suspension bridge over the Sali River marks a significant point in our journey. As we traverse the trail, passing through abundant pine forests, we finally reach Yalbang after 5-6 hours, where the Namkha Khyung Dzong Monastery awaits exploration.

The sixth day unfolds with a trek towards Tumkot Khola, weaving through rocky trails that involve uphill and downhill sections. After 20 minutes of walking, we reach the village of Yangar, and another hour of walking brings us to a suspension bridge over the Karnali River. The landscape transforms, showcasing rockier terrains and replacing giant pine trees with small bushes. After 5 hours of walking, we arrive at Tumkot Khola, our resting place for the night.

The trail from Tumkot Khola onwards presents more challenging terrain with occasional steep climbs. The landscapes become more desolate and rocky, with sparse juniper trees dotting the scenery. After a 6-hour trek, we settle in Thado Dhunga, a settlement above the village of Yari.

This day brings a thrilling challenge as we ascend the famed Nara La Pass. The trail involves a 2-3 hour steep climb from Thado Dhunga. The landscapes transform into barren terrains resembling the hills of Tibet. Tent hotels along the route offer refreshments, and reaching the top provides a magnificent view of the Tibet side and the village of Yari. We then descend towards the border at Hilsa, where we rest for the night.

Embarking from Hilsa after a quick breakfast, we cross the suspension bridge over the Humla-Karnali river, heading northwards into the Limi Valley. Along the journey, the Nepal-Tibet border comes into view, and we witness thousands of Indian pilgrims en route to Kailash Mansarovar. After 4-5 hours of walking, we reach Manepeme, a location marked by the Mani Mantra inscribed on a rock.

Commencing our journey today, we cross the Chenglungma caravan campsite and visit the 300-year-old Kunzum Do-Nag monastery. The trail leads us to Til Village after about 6 hours, offering a serene settlement close to the border. Here, you can delve into the local culture and explore the ancient monastery.

Descend to Tiljung, cross the Tagtsi River, and explore the 800-year-old Rinchhen Ling Gompa monastery in Haji. The journey continues to Chagzur, our resting place for the night.

Visit Hot spring. A well-deserved day of rest unfolds at Chagzur, allowing us to relax our muscles in the natural hot springs. Alternatively, for a more adventurous day, a jeep ride to a viewpoint offers breathtaking vistas of Mansarovar lake and Mt Kailash.

Our journey resumes as we traverse through Tagsti, a crucial meeting point of familiar trails, reaching Jade/Nyalu Base Camp. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, this stop provides a serene atmosphere.

As our trek nears its conclusion, we embark on the journey back to Simikot for our return flight to Kathmandu. Passing through Yapka and Aul Dinga, crossing Yapka Khola, and ascending towards the Thakuri Village of Okhreni, we cover the final stretch. After several hours of walking, we arrive in Simikot, where we spend the night.
