Itinerary

Our adventure begins with a delightful 50-minute ride to Sundarijal, a charming location renowned for its stunning waterfall and its vital role as a water source for Kathmandu. As we pass through a Tamang village, we embark on a hike alongside a water supply pipe. Once we reach an army checkpoint, we proceed through Tamang villages, providing us with glimpses of the breathtaking Kathmandu Valley. As we ascend to an elevation of 2430 meters, we arrive at a small pass and then descend to Chisapani. Throughout the trek, we are treated to verdant landscapes and the possibility of encountering fascinating wildlife.

Today, we will start a trek to Kutumsang that will take approximately 6-7 hours. During the trek, we will pass through meadows and fields, which will offer breathtaking views of the Langtang Mountains. We will also cross Pathi Bhanjyang and Gul Bhanjyang before climbing to another pass and finally descending to Kutumsang. This trek will provide a diverse terrain and a chance to admire the magnificent Himalayan vistas.

Ascending steeply above Kutumsang amidst fir and rhododendron forests, we arrive at Yurin Danda, offering awe-inspiring vistas. With a notable elevation increase of approximately 1000 meters, we continue with caution towards Tharepati. This leg of the journey acquaints us with untouched wilderness and high-altitude terrains.

The path goes downhill until we reach the Melamchi Khola river, and then we climb up to Tarke Gyang passing through Sherpa communities. This village is famous for its monastery and offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountains. Tarke Gyang, also called Helambu, holds great importance in terms of culture and religion.

Today, we can choose to either explore Ama Yangri Peak or the surrounding areas of Tarke Gyang. Ama Yangri Peak is of great cultural and spiritual significance, and the region is renowned for its many sacred sites. This day presents a chance to immerse ourselves in the distinctive heritage and scenery of Yolmo.

Today's hike is a pleasant one, leading us through lush forests, babbling streams, and picturesque waterfalls. As we make our way between Parachin and the Sherpa village of Gangyul, we eventually arrive at Sermathang. This charming village is home to a beautiful Buddhist monastery, creating a serene atmosphere.

We conclude our trek by driving back to Kathmandu. The journey offers reflections on the diverse landscapes, cultural encounters, and the achievement of completing the Helambu Trek.
